Having grown up in a modest southern home with little to spare on luxury Jimmy found himself in need of a good hunting knife. Lack of money is never an excuse for a resourceful southern boy so he made his first knife from an old broken file. A lot has changed since that day in 1986. More than 30 years of knife making has allowed him to master his craft but the same work ethic still drives him - hard work and perseverance will overcome all challenges.

Jimmy hails from the Caddo Lake region which straddles the Louisiana/Texas state lines. Its in this near prehistoric landscape that Jimmy learned to hunt, fish, and camp. From these experiences he recognizes the special needs and performance criteria of each blade he designs. The heritage and legacy passed down to him is even in the names he gives his designs – The Caddo (Bowie), The Little Cypress (EDC), The Black Cypress (Tanto hunting/fighting knife), The Langford (chopper/camping knife), and The Tumpie (polished bone-handle Bowie). Even the name of the company is a nod to his admiration of the hard working men and women from this region that helped shape his life.
